Stallion finally takes Nissan franchise

STALLION Group has officially taken over the franchise for Nissan in Nigeria with the launch of Stallion NMN in the country last week. The event which was attended by Nissan Motors big wigs from sub Sahara Africa Regional office in South Africa, finally ended the partnership between Nissan and its former partner in Nigeria, CFAO Motors.
Speaking at the official launch, Nissan Motors General Manager, sub Sahara Africa regional office, Mr. Jimmy Dando, said: “Nissan fans in Nigeria have plenty to be excited about, following the launch of the new distributor, Stallion NMN in Gbagada Lagos today.”
According to Mr. Dando, Nissan will introduce seven exciting new models into the Nigerian market before the end of the year.
The new partnership heralds a commitment to strong representation in Nigeria, a key market that is expected to deliver significant growth and contribution to Nissan’s global midterm plan, Nissan Power88.

Jim Dando, heading up Nissan’s Sub Sahara Africa Division, said that the African automotive market continues to promise sustainable prospects for growth over the coming years.
“Our Africa plans include the increase of our share from the current 7.9 per cent share in Africa, to double that, through new model introductions, brand building and retail network expansion.
“The partnership with Stallion NMN will help us achieve these objectives. We are pleased to be working with a strong team in Nigeria, who is able to understand and serve our customers and respond to a complex market,” he stated.
Nissan had a strong presence in Nigeria in the 1970′s and early 1980’s, with Nissan Urvan and Datsun 120Y and 180Y. Stallion NMN is expected to reignite the brand in Nigeria, with a focused product introduction plan in the years 2013 to 2016.
“GT-R and Juke are en route to Lagos as we speak, while the next generation Sentra, Tiida, Teana, Pathfinder and Qashqai will be introduced in the coming months, bringing cars packed with innovative features that reflect Nissan’s passion for bringing accessible technology to a broader audience,” said Dando.
Speaking at the occasion, Mr. Parvir Singh, Managing Director, Stallion NMN, said the inauguration of the Nissan facility in Gbagada, is the first step in the company’s commitment to providing an extensive and world-class automotive experience to customers in Nigeria.
“Stallion NMN has a firm belief in the Nissan brand and wishes to re-connect the local motoring public with Nissan’s heritage of solid engineering, ingenuity and aesthetic values.
“Through our network expansion plans, and strong focus on the ongoing development of our sales and service teams, Nigerian consumers can expect consistent and innovative sales and service solutions.
“Today is undeniably significant and suggests another milestone in the history of the Stallion Group in Nigeria.”
According to him, their obligation is to make the ownership of Nissan an enjoyable experience and recognise the importance and excellence both in the quality of their vehicles and after sales service.
The group managing director, while disclosing that Stallion alone controls over 20 per cent of the Nigerian automobile market share, assured Nissan that they have met the right partner in Stallion.
He said: “Let me also reassure Nissan Motor Company that Stallion NMN is the right partner, who firmly believe in the Nissan brand and will strive to establish the preeminent position of the brand in the Nigerian market.
“Although, the Nigerian automobile market could be volatile, the Nissan brand isn’t alien to local motoring public who have had first hand experience of the DNA of Nissan Motor vehicles’ quality, durability and reliability.”
He disclosed that as far back as the 1970s, Nissan products enjoyed unprecedented patronage in the local market controlling appreciable share of the country’s automobile market.
